Student magazine front cover and contents page

This magazine was of poor quality due to the small amount of time spent on it, considering this i don't think it turned out to bad although it isn't good, i ended up relying completely on my images that i had taken with a digital stills camera. Fortunately my images where of good quality so i managed to get away with it a bit. Overall i've used the rule of thirds to position my image where the viewer will look first. I have used a fading affect on the title to give to make the picture more dominant, i have also added the logo of the college in the top right and barcode in the bottom right. Apart from the text on the left i havn't done much to it which is a regret. The only other technique i used was using the yellow text for key words to attract the viewer to the cover lines.

My contents page is much better because the image on its own is good meaning that the rest is sort of over shadowed, which is very good. On a negative side i think this is a too light background to show up white text, i may have just got away with it but it isn't ideal. The rest is rather basic with limited techniques used.

Evaluation

Overall i think that i have made a good effort in the two or so lessons i had to construct this, but it is not if a high enough standard due to that and doesn't really resemble a real college magazine. Given the chance to redo this i would immediately spend a lot longer on it, and make the layout a bit more complex . I also would have cut out my front page image and put it in a different environment maybe outside in the sun, as this would look much better than a crowded library. On the contents page i would have added a logo and changed the text colour to make it more visible but to be honest i wouldn't change a lot as i personally like the image.
